Phil Schofield says he's 'sick' of social distancing as he accidentally breaks rules

Phillip Schofield accidentally broke social distancing rules on Monday's This Morning.

The ITV favourite, 59, moved away from co-star Holly Willoughby when he realised he was sat too close to her as they addressed viewers on camera.

After noticing that he was creeping closer and closer to Holly on the sofa, Phil shared that he is "sick" of social distancing rules after months of having to be two metres away from his pal and colleague.

The silver fox declared his thoughts on social distancing measures as he scooted across the plush blue settee at the start of the show.

Noticing that he and Holly were closer than usual, Phil said: "We are also closer than we are supposed to be!"

Holly then smiled as she added: "Back off down that end, I am where I am supposed to be!"

Admitting it was his fault, Phil replied: "I am not!"

Sharing how he is fed up with being kept away from Holly, he added: "I am sick of all of this!!"

Later on, the TV pair sat down to discuss with Julia Hart-Brewer and Matthew Wright how May 17 is the day that hugging will be allowed in the UK - but that social distancing rules must be kept up.

The baffled foursome discussed how the rules are tricky to understand, with Phil asking: "I can hug Holly but I can't sit next to her?"

Phil then said that he thinks that as "long as both adults agree" they can exchange an embrace.

Last week, Holly revealed that she has had her Covid vaccine after the rollout reached her age group.

"I've been done, I am fully vaccinated! Yesterday I went for my vaccine, I stood in the queue, went in, totally seamless, all fine," she told co host Phil.

She continued: "It's quite an emotional experience, because you talk about it for so long, then you go in there and everyone around you, there is this atmosphere that we are all finally getting the vaccination we have wanted.

"And you're on the road to feeling safe and protected, so it was amazing.

"That's my first one so I've got to wait a while, you've been done, haven't you?" she asked Phil.

Phil replied: "I have had mine, which once again, was so unbelievably efficient, you are in, you are out, you shake it all about! I was so thrilled I did actually, as a matter of fact!

Holly recently had her first Covid vaccine (ITV)

"All the way down the corridor!" he laughed.

Holly remarked: "People said, 'You are doing it on a Wednesday, you might get a bit of a temperature' - I feel fine! I feel positively left out! But I did get a badge."

Phil agreed: "Yeah I felt absolutely fine, slightly bruised arm but other than that..."

Phil got his Covid vaccine in March, and told Holly: "Booking online with the NHS app is so simple, I picked my time, picked my day, went along and had my vaccine.

Phil also shared that he had a jab (schofe/Instagram)

"The team was absolutely delightful, and it didn’t even hurt at all."

He added: "That’s number one done, I had the Oxford one, waiting for the second one to be filled in, in about 12 weeks time.

"The whole experience was efficient and friendly, don’t be nervous."

He also posted a photo of the moment on Instagram, where he wrote: "All painlessly jabbed up, that couldn’t have been any easier, more efficient or friendlier, thank you to Lisa and the team."
