Phil Schofield makes giggly Holly Willoughby admit she wears no pants in bed

This Morning's Phil Schofield cheekily pushed his co host Holly Willoughby to admit whether or not she wears pants in bed after a debate had ensued on Twitter over the topic.

During a debate with Gyles Brandreth and Nick Ferrari, Holly explained: "Susanna Constantine has discussed whether it's acceptable to wear pants under pyjamas in bed, this was on her podcast My Wardrobe Malfunction.

"Susanna said that she sometimes did, but Emma Barnett, who hosted BBC Women's Hour, was resolute that knickers should always be worn under pjs, but listeners did not agree."

After the other guests discussed what they wore in bed, Phil remarked: "Holly, you started this! We've all fessed up. Do you wear pants under you pyjamas?"

A flustered Holly giggled: "I didn't all start this! Well I would wear a big t-shirt.

"No pants, no pants, stop making me say no pants on the TV!" as the studio erupted into laughter.

A lively debate ensued on Twitter when Emma asked her followers what they thought of the conundrum.

She wrote: "How is this a debate? Of course knickers under pyjamas. It takes nerves of steel to take on @snhconstantine on clothes -esp on her own podcast. But someone had to.

"Thanks for having me on @mywardmal to mark paperback publication week of Period. A hoot. Out now.Where do you stand?"

"No to pyjamas in bed. Wear a nightdress and let your bits breathe!" replied one.

"Def no knickers. Why would you wear knickers to bed? I’ve done only knickers in extremis but that’s almost as uncomfy! Yes change pyjams daily of course except as a child," added another.

But another voted for pants in bed, "Coz otherwise you're washing pyjamas as often as your knickers, how could there be any doubt".

"My catholic grandmother used to make me wear them under my nightie to make sure I didn’t shock God if I died in the night," commented a fourth.
