Phil Rosenthal: After 'Long Gone Summer' and 'The Last Dance,' here are 8 Chicago sports documentaries we'd like to see next

ESPN now has taken care of 1998 in Chicago sports with Michael Jordan and the Bulls in "The Last Dance" and the Cubs' Sammy Sosa in "Long Gone Summer."

So what do we want to see next?

There already are documentaries on White Sox great Dick Allen and Loyola's 1963 NCAA men's basketball championship in the works.

There have been many previous Chicago sports documentaries as well, with looks at the 1985 Bears, Steve Bartman, Dennis Rodman, Ernie Banks, Jordan's foray into baseball, Kerry Wood's 20 strikeout game and Minnie Minoso.

And "Hoop Dreams," which tells the story of two Chicago high school basketball hopefuls, is one of the great sports documentaries of all time.

Beyond obvious would-be crowd-pleasers such as Walter Payton, Stan Mikita, Dick Butkus, Harry Caray, Jack Brickhouse, Bill Veeck and Michael Jordan's security team, here are some suggestions for other Chicago sports documentaries with potential national appeal we'd like to see if ESPN, HBO, PBS or some independent producer would please give them the big-time treatment.
