Phil Parkinson coy on Sunderland's latest takeover bid

Sunderland boss Phil Parkinson kept his cards close to his chest regarding the recent takeover bid at the Stadium of Light.

Earlier this week the Black Cats postponed a meeting with supporters' groups this week raising hopes that a takeover announcement could be on the horizon.

Chief executive Jim Rodwell cited the reason being 'due to the advancement and sensitivity of this process'.

Speaking to the media this afternoon, Parkinson said: "I've been at a lot of clubs as a manager when takeover talk is quite often in the air. It's important as a manager and as players that we put that to one side.

"When or if a takeover finally happens, the owner of the football club - Stewart Donald will ring me I'm sure and let me know.

"A lot of times there's still a lot more work to be done than people think.

"I just focus on the team.

"I haven't been told anything official but I like it that way. I just like to know when I need to know something and when that stage comes I'm sure I'll be informed."
