Phil Neville takes aim at Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after Man Utd crash out of FA Cup

Phil Neville hit out at former Manchester United teammate Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after the Red Devils' FA Cup exit at the hands of Chelsea.

United were beaten 3-1 by the Blues at Wembley with David de Gea enduring an evening to forget as Solskjaer's side crashed out of the competition.

De Gea could have done better with Olivier Giroud's opener before a howler from the Spaniard saw Mason Mount double the Blues' advantage.

A Harry Maguire own goal made Chelsea's passage secure before Bruno Fernandes added a late penalty for Solskjaer's side.

And while De Gea bore the brunt of the criticism from fans and pundits alike following the game, Neville did not let his old pal Solskjaer off scot-free.

The Norwegian made several changes to his line-up for the game, leaving Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood on the bench.

"I don't think United had a player on the pitch, maybe [Bruno] Fernandes, that played well," Neville said. "I think Ole picked the wrong team and the wrong system."

Neville admitted De Gea was 'unrecognisable' from his former self after the latest of a string of blunders this campaign.

"He's unrecognisable from the player that won player of the year awards," he added. "If I was Solskjaer I'd be worried. His credentials are still up there with the best in the world but he's lost all his confidence."

Former Chelsea and Arsenal defender Ashley Cole concurred, saying: "De Gea keeps making the same mistakes, so that will be a concern."
