Phil Mickelson preps for the U.S. Open with a hole-in-one in Jim Nantz’s awesome backyard

Phil Mickelson needs just one win at the always-difficult U.S. Open to complete the career grand slam, and maybe what he did in Jim Nantz’s backyard is a sign of good things to come when the 2019 event comes to Pebble Beach next week.

Nantz, as you may recall, owns a home at Pebble Beach. And in the backyard of the CBS broadcasting legend’s house is a replica of the iconic par-3 No. 7 at the course. A few people have nailed a hole-in-one there, including his colleague Nick Faldo. There’s even an engraved plaque there with names of those who have made a hole-in-one.

It’s time to get the plaque updated with Lefty’s name:
