Phil Jones shows off nasty scar after collision with Declan Rice

Phil Jones arrived at training on Sunday sporting a scar on his head following a nasty collision with Declan Rice.

The Manchester United defender was treated for a nasty cut just above his right eye in the closing stages of his side's win over West Ham .

The injury required the England defender's head to be bandaged for the remaining few minutes.

Despite five minutes of added time, United comfortably held on to secure a 2-1 victory that moves them back above Arsenal and into fifth, two points behind fourth-placed Chelsea .

Paul Pogba's brace bailed out United ahead of Tuesday's huge Champions League quarter-final challenge in Barcelona .

Why Ole Gunnar Solskjaer won't park in Sir Alex Ferguson's space

Pogba's two penalties sealed victory at Old Trafford, but those in attendance will know how fortunate Solskjaer's side were to have secured a point, nevermind three.

Felipe Anderson saw an early opener wrongly ruled out for offside, but the Brazilian cancelled out Pogba's contentiously-awarded penalty shortly after half-time as the Hammers capitalised on David De Gea's poor throw.

The United goalkeeper made amends as Manuel Pellegrini's men pushed for a winner, producing an outstanding one-handed save from Michail Antonio shortly after the West Ham substitute rattled the goalframe.

Yet the visitors returned to the capital empty-handed after Pogba smashed home his second spot-kick to keep up United's top-four charge on an evening when the performance will have alarmed Solskjaer.

Paul Scholes makes Man Utd vs Barcelona prediction after West Ham win

United will need to be at their best when they face Barcelona at the Camp Nou on Tuesday night.

The Red Devils need to overturn a 1-0 deficit after a Luke Shaw own-goal gave the La Liga leaders victory at Old Trafford in midweek.

Solskjaer has confirmed that Scott McTominay, who was rested against the Hammers, will start in Spain after impressing against the Catalan giants in the first leg.

Speaking about the midfielder following Saturday's match, Solskajer said: "He’s a young boy and that mental and physical output on Wednesday was a lot and he'll be needed on Tuesday.

"He needed a break today."
