Phil Foden reveals mood in Man City dressing room after falling further behind Liverpool FC

Phil Foden has revealed that his Man City teammates were left 'gutted' in the dressing room after the 2-2 draw with Newcastle United on Saturday.

City had twice taken the lead at St. James' Park, through Raheem Sterling and a spectacular Kevin De Bruyne volley, but were pegged back moments later on both occasions as the Blues dropped more points.

The result means that City have now fallen 11 points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool who managed to defeat Brighton 2-1 at Anfield despite goalkeeper Alisson being shown a red card.

City could drop to third place on Sunday should Leicester City pick up at least a point in their clash with Everton.

Such a big gap gives Liverpool a firm advantage in the title race and Foden has revealed that the City stars were left frustrated after the final whistle.

“We are all gutted in the changing room," the teenager said.

"We wanted to get the three points today and it's disappointing after their goal. We need to move forward and focus on our next games.

“We thought that [De Bruyne's goal] was going to be the winner. But they kept going and they manage to score a great strike in the end, unfortunately for us.

“It's not in our hands now [the top of the table]. All we can do is win every game, it's going to be a big challenge for us.

“I think [December] is the most important time of the season. Teams usually drop points, it's going to be interestng. All we can do now is to try to win all our games and see where it takes us."
