Phil Foden outlines Man City target for final two Champions League group fixtures

There is no sign of Manchester City players taking the foot off the gas in their final two Champions League group games, according to their latest matchwinner Phil Foden.

City beat Olympiacos by a single Foden goal in Greece to record their fourth win from four and secure qualification to the knockout stages with two games to spare. A point from their next game against second-placed Porto will see them confirmed as group winners.

That favourable scenario gives Pep Guardiola the opportunity to rest and rotate his key players for the next two midweek European fixtures, with a crucial run in the Premier League coming up.

However, Foden admitted after the game that his teammates have no intention of letting their guard down and intend to finish the group as strongly as possible - whoever plays.

He told ManCity.com : "It feels really good to get the qualification done today, we're looking forward to the next stage, but first of all, we need to finish off strong.

"It's been difficult this year with the games coming really quick but we've had to get used to it this year," he added, referring to the quick turnaround to Saturday's Premier League clash with Burnley.

"I think we'll be ready. If some people are tired then we have the subs there ready to play."

Foden has now scored six goals for club and country this season, once again taking his chance when it came in. His goal in Greece was helped in a large part by Raheem Sterling's no-look backheel assist, right into the path of the youngster's run into the area.

He continued: "I always love scoring for this club, I enjoy it a lot and I'm trying to score as many as possible. It was great vision from him [Sterling] to backheel it to me, so I'm thankful for the assist.

"I feel really good, I feel like I'm playing good, so I feel happy at the moment."
