Phil Foden sat out training at St George's Park leaving Gareth Southgate sweating on his player's fitness ahead of England's Euro 2020 final.
The midfielder picked up a knock and didn't join the other 25 players, who all went through their paces.
Foden's absence is believed to have been precautionary but it is far from ideal preparation.
Italy lie in wait for the Three Lions at Wembley following their semi-final win over Spain on penalties.
Foden appeared from the bench during Wednesday night's success over Denmark.
The Manchester City youngster has also featured in games against Croatia and Scotland as he continues to be a key component under Southgate.

Foden was left out of the squad for the final group game against the Czech Republic which was down to him having a booking to his name.
The 21-year-old has already spoken about his desire to win with England as he urged against getting caught up in the moment.
He said: “It would be my proudest moment. Nothing can beat winning with your national team.
“There are going to be so many emotions with the fans. The players have to stay focused and treat it like the first game of the tournament.
"Don’t change anything because we’ve been brilliant in every game. Hopefully we can get it over the line.”
Southgate has largely stuck to the same XI for England's past two games against the Ukraine and Denmark.
Jadon Sancho played in the last eight clash with Bukayo Saka returning for the semi-final having dealt with a knock.
Otherwise the Three Lions have been unchanged with Foden's influence coming as a substitute.
There will no doubt be a reluctance to make too many changes against the Italians.
Foden attracted plenty of attention before a ball was kicked as he dyed his hair blonde.
It very much resembled the hair do rocked by Paul Gascoigne during Euro 96 and the City star revealed that his team-mates promised to follow his example if England won the tournament.
Foden joked: “I’ve told them but I’m feeling they are not going to do it. We’ve still got a tough final to win. If we win I’d like to think they’d stick to their word but we’ll see.”

In the aftermath of England's semi-final win Southgate was quick to challenge his players insisting that the job is not done despite their achievements.
He said: “I’m so proud of the players. It’s an incredible occasion to be a part of – we knew it wouldn’t be straightforward.
"We said to the players we’ll have to show our resilience and come back from some setbacks, and we’ve done that tonight.
"The most pleasing thing is that we’ve given our fans and our nation a fantastic night, and the journey continues on for another four days.
“There’s one more massive hurdle to try to conquer. Italy are a very good side. They’ve shown outstanding form and have defensive warriors at the back who have been through everything. It’s something to look forward to.”

Meanwhile, the Football Association has been fined £25,630 after a laser pointer was directed at Denmark goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel during the Euro 2020 semi-final win on Wednesday.
The punishment, confirmed on Saturday by European governing body UEFA, also takes into account disturbances during the national anthems at Wembley and the setting off of fireworks inside the stadium.
The FA was charged was charged with the three offences after the game and the sanctions imposed following consideration by UEFA’s control ethics and disciplinary body.
The laser incident occurred as Schmeichel prepared to face a penalty during extra time of England’s 2-1 win.
UEFA also investigated the booing of the Danish national anthem prior to the game, which was attended by more than 60,000 people, and the setting off of fireworks by some fans.
A statement from UEFA read: “The CEDB has decided to fine the English Football Association 30,000 euros for the use of laser pointer, disturbances during the national anthems and setting of fireworks.”
