Manchester City expect a close title race that could go down to the wire, Phil Foden admits.
City lost at Tottenham on the opening day, but are unbeaten since and beat Chelsea last weekend to haul themselves back into contention. The 2-2 draw at Liverpool moved them up to third, a point behind their hosts and two behind Chelsea, who bounced back with victory over Southampton.
Going into the international break, City are well-placed after a week that saw them go unbeaten against two title rivals and also put in a competitive performance against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League - all away from home.
Reflecting on that run of fixtures, Foden says the mood in the camp is positive after a win, a defeat and a draw.
“I think we have played three of the best teams in football right now, back-to-back," he said.
"Being Manchester City, we love those games and we want to win those games to show our quality against the best players. I think in every single game against Chelsea, PSG and Liverpool today, we showed a very high standard and put in great performances.”
In terms of the Premier League title race, Foden said City expect a number of teams to be challenging for the title - and the last week only proves how competitive this season will be.
As well as City, Chelsea and Liverpool, there is also Manchester United, Everton and Brighton level on 14 points along with the Blues, while Brentford and Tottenham have 12 points to separate the top eight by just four points.
“I feel like it is going to go all the way," Foden admitted.
"We know there are a lot of teams in the title race this year and it is really good to see that there is more than one team fighting at the top of the league. We will fight until the end.”
