Phil Foden likes tweets predicting Man City greatness after England U21 wondergoal

Phil Foden has every reason to be confident after his fine solo goal for England U21s on Tuesday.

The Manchester City midfielder picked the ball up midway through the France U21 half, before taking on five opponents and sending a measured finish into the back of the net to give England the lead.

Unfortunately for Foden and his teammates, two late French goals consigned England to defeat, and the Young Lions now face an uphill battle to secure the only automatic spot from Group C in the U21 Euros.

But on an individual level, Foden's first goal for the U21s was reason to be proud, especially given the nature of the strike.

It follows a breakthrough season at City, where Foden registered his first goals for the club in the Premier League, Champions League, Carabao Cup and FA Cup as the Blues became the first team to win the domestic treble.

After the game, Twitter was full of praise for Foden, who made sure he acknowledged some particular praise from two City legends by liking their tweets.

Shaun Goater tweeted: "Cometh the moment, cometh the man @philfoden with a composed goal." followed by three clapping emojis.

While Paul Dickov posted: "Brilliant yet again from @PhilFoden #thefutureisblue"

Dickov's predictions for Foden's future at City is nothing new, but Foden interestingly liked another tweet from a fan saying the 19-year-old will be the future of English football.

User @stevenmcinerney posted a video of Foden's goal with the caption: "Phil Foden is absolutely f****** brilliant and the future shining light of English football."

Foden finished his liking spree with Jamie Carragher's tweet, which called his goal 'outstanding.'

The midfielder will now hope to continue his form in England's final two group games before embarking on pre-season with City.
