Phil Foden insists England teammates will fulfil hair dye promise if Three Lions win Euros

Phil Foden has warned his teammates they must keep their promise to dye their hair if England win the Euros.

Manchester City star Foden bleached his hair blonde before the start of the tournament and claimed the rest of the squad agreed to follow suit if they ended going all the way.

Now there is a real chance England might just win the tournament, Foden says a few are threatening to break their promise - but he says he will make them stick to their word.

Foden said: “I’ve told them but I’m feeling they are not going to do it. We’ve still got a tough final to win. If we win I’d like to think they’d stick to their word but we’ll see.”

England midfielder Foden is hoping for a recall to the starting line-up for the final having started the tournament when his hair helped draw comparisons to Paul Gascoigne from Euro 96.

Now England have a chance to go even better this summer and lift their first major trophy for the first time in 55 years.

Foden said: “It would be my proudest moment. Nothing can beat winning with your national team.

“There are going to be so many emotions with the fans. The players have to stay focused and treat it like the first game of the tournament. Don’t change anything because we’ve been brilliant in every game. Hopefully we can get it over the line.”

Foden also gave an insight into the social side of things at St George’s Park with box sets, Love Island, music and playing basketball, darts and pool. He says that while they may not all agree on music, they are all behind Gareth Southgate because of the atmosphere he has created.

He added: “I’ve enjoyed working with him every day, even the ones who haven’t played are still happy and supporting the players that have played. That is the environment he has created. He has everyone’s back.

“I’m watching a bit of Netflix. We’re lucky that we have a bit of basketball, darts and pool. There are a few things to keep you busy during the day and I’ve obviously been watching Love Island as well.

“We all love watching it together and having a bit of banter. I’ve never played basketball before so it’s new to me. I’ve had a few shots but I’m more of a darts player.”
