Phil Foden gives verdict on Man City superstars and Manchester United player Marcus Rashford

Manchester City ace Phil Foden has spoken about how he still finds it surreal to be playing for the club's first-team, saying he has to double-take sometimes.

The England star had his breakthrough season as a first-team regular last season under Pep Guardiola, scoring 16 goals and registering eight assists as City won the Premier League again and reached the Champions League final for the first time in their history.

Foden has been touted as one of the brightest young talents in English football right now and his success is seen as inevitable by some fans, but the 21-year-old revealed that he still finds it tough to accept that he's in the City team alongside some super star players.

Speaking to i-D prior to Euro 2020, Foden said; "I try and explain it to people all the time, it just went so quick.

"One minute I was in the academy and the next I was playing with the players I was watching. I still walk into City some days and just think 'wow, I'm actually playing with these players'. But you have to try to get used to it and do the best you can."

Foden was also asked about what it's like to be a young footballer in today's game, and name-checked fellow Mancunian Marcus Rashford as someone who is changing the stereotype for the next generation.

He added: "Some people see footballers as arrogant sometimes, but you see what Marcus Rashford has been doing for the world at the moment, and the kids, and it's just great to see and it's good that these young players are going in the right direction - speaking out and helping the world."

Rashford and Foden were both part of the England squad at Euro 2020 this summer as the Three Lions reached the final for the first time at a major international tournament since 1966. Foden was injured for the final game against Italy, as England were beaten on penalties.
