Phil Foden claims Mason Greenwood is on same level as Man City star Sergio Aguero

Phil Foden says Mason Greenwood is up there with Manchester City's record goalscorer Sergio Aguero in terms of his finishing.

Greenwood, 18, has been a revelation for Manchester United in his first full season, plundering 15 goals with devastating finishes with either foot.

Although he plays for their arch local rivals, City midfielder Foden, 20, acknowledged England Under-21 team-mate Greenwood’s formidable ability and said his clinical finishing is up there with Aguero, who has scored 254 goals for the Blues.

“Mason Greenwood is the best I’ve seen, finishing-wise,” Foden told Premier League Uncut.

“He’s both footed. In and around the box, he’s always going to score.”

Asked how Greenwood compared to Aguero, in terms of finishing, Foden said: “High up, finishing-wise. For his age, he’s unbelievable. I don’t know how he does it, to be honest.

“It's just the right type of shot, you know what I mean? He just knows when to finesse or lace it and he shoots quickly, the keeper is never stable or set.”

Meanwhile, Greenwood has also been compared to one of the greats from the Red side of Manchester.

Former Red Devils striker Dimitar Berbatov has named their wonderkid in the same bracket as Neymar and Kylian Mbappe as one of those in line to replicate the Cristiano Ronaldo in the next generation.

Berbatov told Betfair: “It will be one of the saddest days in world football when Ronaldo finishes playing, even those who dislike him will appreciate him.

"The day will come, but hopefully not for some time yet. When he's finished, other players will come, even Pele and Maradona were eventually replaced – life is a circle.

"We have Neymar, Mbappe, Greenwood, and other young players that can hopefully reach the highs of Ronaldo and Messi, as unbelievable as that may seem."
