Phil Foden and three other Man City players on PFA Player of the Year shortlist

Phil Foden has been recognised for a sensational season with a place on the shortlists for both the PFA Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year awards.

Foden, who only turned 21 the day before the Champions League final, took his chance for Manchester City this season as they won the Premier League at a canter as well as the Carabao Cup. Foden produced some memorable performances, including a stunning individual showing at Anfield as well as a fine game at Chelsea, as well as scoring some important goals including the winner in a 1-0 win over Brighton in January.

Now, he is one of four players on the PFA award shortlist, which is voted for by fellow Premier League players.

Kevin De Bruyne could still retain the trophy he won last year, while bookmaker's favourite and Football Writer's Association Footballer of the Year winner Ruben Dias is in the final six along with Ilkay Gundogan.

Manchester United playmaker Bruno Fernandes is on the shortlist, as is Harry Kane - who won both the Golden Boot and the Playmaker award in the league.

Although it is unlikely, Foden could possibly win a remarkable double, as he's named on the PFA Young Player of the Year shortlist as well as the main award.

United winger Mason Greenwood is on the list for the Young award, along with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mason Mount, Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka.

City and United are both featured on the shortlists for the WSL awards, too. Sam Mewis, who's now left City, is nominated along with Chloe Kelly and current Young Player of the Year holder Lauren Hemp.

On the Young Player shortlist, United players Lauren James and Ella Toone feature, along with City's Hemp and Ellie Roebuck.

The awards will take place on Sunday evening, where the winners are announced, while the men's and women's PFA Teams of the Year will be announced on Friday.
