Fresh from announcing a five-night residency at the Royal Albert Hall, in London, Phil Collins is continuing his return to live performance with his biggest solo show ever.

The star – who has had five No 1 studio albums and 13 Top 10 singles in the UK – will headline the British Summer Time in Hyde Park in central London on 30 June. Tickets go on general sale at 9am on 11 November, with assorted presales – for fan-club members and Barclaycard customers – from 8 November.

As ever for the British Summer Time shows, how near you get to stand to the stage depends on how much you are willing to pay. General admission costs £79.50, with various tiers of tickets, including gold circle for £149.50, diamond view for £399.50, and £699 for “ultimate bar”, which perhaps enables you to buy something other than plastic bottles of lager.

Tickets for the five Royal Albert Hall shows, between 4 and 9 June, sold out in 15 seconds.

“I thought I would retire quietly,” Collins said when he announced his comeback. “But thanks to the fans, my family and support from some extraordinary artists, I have rediscovered my passion for music and performing. It’s time to do it all again, and I’m excited. It just feels right.”

Collins had retired from music in 2011, but said playing two charity shows this summer had revived his desire to play live.

The only other British Summer Time headliner announced so far are Green Day, who play on 1 July.
