'Phenomenal' response to stolen puppy appeal after seven-week old Labradors snatched from Scots farm

The response to an appeal after four seven-week old Labrador puppies were snatched from a Scots farm at the weekend has been described as "phenomenal".

Breeder Veronica Martin was inundated with so many message and friend requests from across the UK that her computer crashed.

She has now urged people to only add her on Facebook if they have solid information in a bid to speed up her communications.

We told at the weekend how Veronica was devastated after four pups were stolen from her farm

Callous dognappers raided the property outside Galston during the night - just one week before the puppies were due to go to their forever homes.

Veronica is currently in the process of going through every photo she has received in the hope she will be able to trace the pups but is still plagued with questions over their welfare and desperate for them to return.

Speaking today she told the Record: "One of the ladies who was taking one of the pups that has been stolen has been on our waiting list for one year for a puppy.

"It is heartbreaking. On Saturday morning I had to phone phone four families and tell them their puppies had been stolen.

"These families have already bought collars, leads, pink blankets or blue blankets - they were prepared - and then I had to ring and tell them the puppy had been stolen. It is devastating.

"Are the puppies still stuck in someones boot? Have they been fed? Are they being played with? Do they have water? Are they warm enough or are they too warm?

"We've had dry weather so the puppies have enjoyed being outside for most of the day.

"These four pups that have been stolen, what has happened to them and have they been stolen to order?"

Veronica is a reputable breeder who has bred Labrador puppies for 22 years and some clients spend years on her waiting list to buy a puppy.

As she always makes sure the pups go to a safe and loving home it is devastating not knowing if they are currently safe.

She is urging anyone with information to get in touch with her via phone or by contacting the police.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.55am on Saturday, 10 April, we received a report that four puppies had been stolen from a property in Galston.

"Enquiries are ongoing.”
