Phasmophobia is getting a major crossover with Alan Wake this May

The first ever crossover event for Phasmophobia is coming this May with a surprising game: Alan Wake. Revealed at the Galaxies Showcase event, the event will be entirely free to players, bringing the intense atmosphere of the Alan Wake games to the ghost-hunting world of Phasmophobia.

The event, titled Phasmophobia by Alan Wake, will run from May 12 to June 2.

A major horror crossover event begins this Spring

In the Phasmophobia x Alan Wake event, “two worlds will collide”, according to the trailer, which means elements of the Alan Wake universe will seep into the familiar hauntings of Phasmophobia. While details haven’t been revealed, this could mean new ghostly encounters and changes reflective of the Alan Wake games.

Daniel Knight, the CEO of Kinetic Games, and Same Lake, Creative Director at Remedy Entertainment, both spoke about the surprise collaboration and how the two horror games will intersect. Knight said, “Working with Remedy has been an incredible experience, and the way these two worlds overlap has opened up some unsettling possibilities that we’re excited for players to explore.”

“It’s a natural crossover, and our art team has been hard at work capturing the atmosphere of Alan Wake 2, bringing the essence of some of the game’s iconic locations into Phasmophobia.”

Lake stated, “It was a joy to write for this collaboration. As Alan Wake writes a new manuscript in the depths of the Dark Place, the paranormal investigators of Phasmophobia find themselves trapped in a horror story. Our two twisted worlds amplify each other perfectly.”

Phasmophobia’s success story continues

These statements give players the tiniest hint of what to expect, as it seems Alan Wake’s writing will once again lead to a classic trapped-in-a-horror-story pickle, this time starring the ghost hunters players take the role of in Phasmophobia. What the Alan Wake crossover may do, given this unique “inside a story” concept, is potentially introduce strange new monsters or threats that wouldn’t normally fit into the ghost and demon-filled world of Phasmophobia

With all the excitement surrounding Phasmophobia as a giant in the world of indie horror games – with a major crossover event and an entire movie in the works – it’s strange to remember that the game is still actually in early access. A full release is planned for later this year as revealed in the developer’s road map for 2026, though an exact date has yet to be announced, a full six years after its initial debut on Steam in Sept. 2020.
