Scotland's lockdown easing - Everything you can and can't do

Nicola Sturgeon confirmed the full list of changes to coronavirus restrictions in Scotland, including relaxed rules for shops, outdoor exercise and socialising.

But the First Minister insisted strict physical distancing and hygiene must be followed to stop the virus creeping back.

She said: "How well we follow these practices now determines whether we can go further in the future. We can only take these steps towards a less restricted lifestyle, and then consider taking further steps, if people continue to obey the guidance."

Meeting other households

One household can now meet up with another outdoors, including in a garden. Households are supposed to meet just one other household within the same day and up to a recommended maximum of eight people in the overall group. Physical distancing is still required in all of the new rules.

Socialising outdoors

Public outdoor spaces can be used for recreation, such as sitting in a park, sunbathing or having a picnic. But don’t shared food, drink or utensils with people beyond your household. And don’t share bathrooms.

Traveling for leisure

Short distances can be travelled for outdoor leisure and exercise, but they should be within five miles of your house. Cycling and walking is still encouraged over driving. Golf, outdoor tennis and fishing can resume with unrestricted outdoor exercise in your local area.

Back to school and childcare

School staff can return to prepare for pupils returning in a restricted way from August 11. Child minding services and outdoor nursery provision will be available with limited capacity.

Outdoor businesses

Most outdoor workplaces can resume, including horticulture, garden centres, forestry and environmental management. Associated cafes should not reopen at this stage except for take-away. Food outlets, restaurants and cafes are able to provide delivery, take-away and drive-through. And from Monday, June 1, recycling centres start to reopen.

Construction firms can make early plans

The construction sector can start planning for a return to work, subject to more guidance from government.
