Pharmacy opens bookings for Flu Vaccination Service

Well Pharmacy has opened bookings for its Flu Vaccination Service allowing people to book early to help protect themselves from the risk of a serious influenza epidemic this winter.

Free flu jabs on behalf of the NHS will be offered to those who are eligible, including adults aged 50 and over, adults aged 18 and over with certain health conditions, pregnant women, and other NHS groups including social care workers.

A private service, meanwhile, is available to all those who don't fall in the above categories at a cost of £14.50.

Ifti Khan, Pharmacy Superintendent for Well Pharmacy said: "Getting your flu vaccination is important for many reasons. Getting vaccinated is still the most effective way of protecting yourself and your loved ones from catching the influenza virus, which can be fatal.

"Researchers are projecting that there is a possibility of a high prevalence of flu this winter and if you are at higher risk from coronavirus, you are also more at risk of problems from flu and potentially getting seriously ill.

"Community Pharmacy plays an important role in supporting the NHS in delivering as many vaccines as possible in the local community. We are highly trained and experienced vaccinators, and I am urging everyone to be proactive and book your flu vaccination appointment early given the very real risk that immunity to the flu virus will be lower this year because of lockdowns over the last 18 months. By getting vaccinated, you are not only protecting yourself but your friends, family and loved ones."
