Pharmaceuticals giant Sotax signs up for space at Derbyshire business park

A pharmaceuticals giant has signed a long-term lease on offices at a Derbyshire business park.

Sotax Ltd, part of the Sotax Group, has taken space at the Tomlinson Business Park, in Woodyard Lane, Foston, which is close to the A50.

The pharmaceutical testing firm is headquartered in Switzerland and has bases all over the world, developing, manufacturing and delivering pharmaceutical testing equipment and associated services.

The deal was completed by Derby agents BB&J Commercial, who had been marketing Rutherford House on behalf of the owners and developers of the building, Hemsley Asset Management.

The letting comes 18 months after the speculatively constructed office building first came to the market with other agents. However, just two months after Hemsley instructed BB&J Commercial as joint agents the letting to Sotax was secured.

The deal was secured by Graham Bancroft, partner at BB&J Commercial (Matthew Jones Photography)

Graham Bancroft, partner at BB&J Commercial, said “Rutherford House provided a great opportunity for a business to have headquarter premises within a small high-tech business park.

“When I initially spoke to Sotax regarding their property requirements it was in reference to another property. However, I knew straight away that we would be able to meet all of their needs at Rutherford House.

“After showing Sotax around the property they could instantly see the potential of the space. We were able to agree terms quickly and I am pleased that the transaction completed smoothly.

“I’m sure that due to the high-tech nature of their work they will fit in well with the other high-tech companies on the business park such as Carfulan Group, SYS Systems and Mediline Home Care.”

Ramsey Khinda, head of sales and marketing at Sotax’s European business unit, said: “After viewing Rutherford House I was sure that the property ticked all of the boxes for what we required, especially the accessibility to road networks.

“The facility allows Sotax to offer best class to our customers within the pharmaceutical industries in Great Britain, Rep of Ireland and Scandinavia.

“The idea of being situated on a large development didn’t appeal to us but we needed the modern features that a new build property offered.

“Being part of this small business park suited us perfectly and we felt that the surrounding high-tech companies complemented what we do.”

Andrew Fulton, director of Hemsley Asset Management, said: “We are very pleased to welcome Sotax as our tenant. We feel that they will fit in well on the development and we wish them well.

“We were delighted with the deal put together by Graham at BB&J Commercial and the speed of the letting.”
