Pharma firm creating up to 100 new jobs in Blaenau Gwent

Plans by a Tredegar-based pharmaceutical firm for a £9m expansion creating up to 100 new jobs have been approved.

Proposals by PCI Pharma Services to build a new packaging building at its operation at the Tafarnaubach Industrial Estate, have been unanimously backed by Blaenau Gwent Council's planning committee.

The firm, which employs around 440 staff at Tredegar, announced plans for the expansion back in December.

PCI Pharma plans to recruit the majority of the new staff locally.

The company plans to complete the initial expansion by the end of 2021, with the overall project creating 50 to 100 jobs.

It will allow the business to enhance its drug manufacturing operations and is seen as the first part of an expansion which could see a significant increase to their workforce" over the next five years.
