PGA Tour streaks to watch at RBC Heritage

It’s Week 2 on the re-start of the PGA Tour schedule as the RBC Heritage kicks off on Thursday.

It will be the second tournament in a row — and the second of five straight to open the re-start — in which fans will not be allowed on site.

The field is 152 players, with 114 of those golfers having won a Tour event in their careers, the most since data started being kept in 2000. That’s a stacked field on a fun course that is setting up for a solid week of entertainment.

Top five again

For the second straight week, the top-five ranked players in the Official World Golf Ranking are all playing: No. 1 Rory McIlroy, No. 2 Jon Rahm, No. 3 Brooks Koepka, No. 4 Justin Thomas and No. 5 Dustin Johnson.

Rahm missed the cut last week at the Charles Schwab Challenge but he has a mathematical chance to overtake McIlroy at the top spot, according to the Associated Press.

Rahm and Johnson both missed the cut last week.

Par or better

Daniel Berger, winner of last week’s Charles Schwab Challenge, has had 28 rounds of par or better, the longest current streak on Tour.

Weekend warrior

Collin Morikawa has made 21 consecutive cuts to start his career, four shy of the mark set by Tiger Woods, who made his first 25 cuts.

First-timers

The RBC Heritage has produced four straight first-time winners on the PGA Tour:

  • CT Pan
  • Satoshi Kodaira
  • Wesley Bryan
  • Branden Grace

Five in a row?

Ted Potter Jr. has made just 66 cuts in 138 starts on Tour but he’s 4-for-4 playing the weekend at Harbour Town. Two of those cuts made were top-20 finishes.

7 up

The last seven winners on Tour all trailed heading into Sunday’s final round.
