PGA Tour: See Jason Day’s preposterous 121-yard eagle hole-out

Former world No. 1 Jason Day found himself well above the cut line at The Memorial on Friday with just nine holes to play after a wild opening nine, but he gave himself a chance to make a comeback with an unbelievable eagle at the par-4 second hole.

Day started his round at the 10th and carded just one par on the back nine, with five bogeys and three birdies. He was 5-over par for the tournament on the second tee, four shots above the projected cut of 1-over. He pulled a 320-yard drive left of the fairway in front of a towering tree – but managed to hit a perfect recovery shot to the front of the green, and watched as his ball released into the cup.

Day will still have work to do in the closing holes if he hopes to play the weekend at Muirfield Village. Troy Merritt held a solo lead at 10-under par as of 11:20 a.m. ET, two shots ahead of Emiliano Grillo. Tiger Woods posted a 2-under round of 70 on Thursday, and will tee off at 1:16 p.m. ET for his second round.
