PGA Tour Latinoamerica player tests positive for coronavirus

Victor Lange, a player on PGA Tour Latinoamerica, became the first professional golfer to be diagnosed with coronavirus, the PGA Tour announced Wednesday.

According to a statement, Lange, 26, has no symptoms and is expected to make a full recovery. He made his lone start of the year March 5-8 at the Estrella del Mar Open on PGA Tour Latinoamerica. Lange, who played collegiately at Louisiana Tech, left Mexico on March 9 and returned to his home in Johannesburg, South Africa. He was tested on March 15 as a “precautionary measure” when he escorted a friend to the doctor for an appointment.

Lange received his diagnosis on March 17. “We have offered our support as he recovers under quarantine at home,” the Tour said. It also pledged to “alert those he may have come in contact with” at the event of his positive test result.
