The week began with the threat of inclement weather, and early on Monday, it was announced that Quail Hollow would be closed to fans for that day's practice rounds, although players were still permitted to take to the course.

There's more unsettled weather in the immediate forecast, with rain and thunderstorms predicted on Tuesday, before things begin to clear, with only showers expected on Wednesday.
For the tournament itself, an even bigger improvement is in the forecast, with the main risk being the potential for thunderstorms on Saturday. Meanwhile, the warmest day is expected to be Friday, with temperatures set to reach 86°F (30°C), although it will be mainly cloudy during the second round.
