PFF suggests Jets should sign Kwon Alexander

Pro Football Focus thinks the New York Jets and Kwon Alexander should finish what they started this spring.

In April, the linebacker had a free-agent visit in New York. He still remains without a team.

However, the football analytics outlet still thinks it should happen. PFF suggested one move for every NFL team to make before the start of training camp and Alexander to the Jets was the pick for Gang Green.

Here’s the breakdown from PFF:

This is a bit of an obvious one since Alexander played on the San Francisco 49ers when Jets head coach Robert Saleh was defensive coordinator. The Jets ranked 26th in Seth Galina’s linebacker unit rankings.

In Saleh’s defense, there are high hopes for the tandem of CJ Mosley and Quincy Williams. While Williams predicted a Pro Bowl year out of himself in 2022, Alexander still makes sense as a depth piece. New York’s run defense was a concern last season and bare minimum, Alexander brings in a veteran depth piece behind that duo.

Alexander, 27, is an eight-year veteran who has played the SAM, WILL and middle linebacker positions. He played 13 games in Robert Saleh’s San Francisco 49ers defense from 2019-2020.
