PFF’s top-graded offensive, defensive Rams players in Week 1

The Carolina Panthers put up a strong fight against the visiting Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, nearly pulling off the upset late in the fourth quarter. The Rams ultimately held on, 30-27, thanks to some solid play from the ground game and defense down the stretch.

Malcolm Brown scored two touchdowns and Tyler Higbee caught a touchdown pass that would prove to be the difference in the game, so it’s no surprise they were recognized by Pro Football Focus as two of the best offensive players for the Rams on Sunday.

Andrew Whitworth also received some praise with a solid grade of 74.4, followed by two Rams receivers. Here’s the full list of the five highest-graded offensive players from Week 1.

On defense, Cory Littleton predictably led the way for the Rams. He earned the highest PFF grade of any player in the NFL this past week, recording 14 tackles, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and an interception.

Bryce Hager played just 25 snaps, but he was effective in his limited playing time. And despite being held without a sack, Aaron Donald earned a very respectable 83.2 grade, drawing a ton of attention from the Panthers’ offensive line.

There are plenty of areas of improvement for the Rams heading into 2019, but this was a good start in a tough environment. Los Angeles is off to a good start on both sides of the ball.
