PFF ranks 5 highest-graded Seahawks on offense in 2018

Each year the website Pro Football Focus grades and ranks every single player in the NFL. Thousands of hours of film study by PFF help break down which players are truly making the most impact, regardless of name, previous history, or contract worth.

On Saturday, PFF announced the top five ranked Seattle Seahawks on offense in 2018, and to no one’s surprise, they include quarterback Russell Wilson, running back Chris Carson, tackle Duane Brown, and wide receivers Tyler Lockett and Doug Baldwin.

At first glance, these clearly appear to be high grades. But with a little more context, they are outstanding numbers. According to PFF, Wilson is the 6th-ranked quarterback, Carson is the 5th-ranked running back, Brown is the 5th-ranked left tackle, Lockett and Baldwin are the 14th and 24th-ranked wide receivers.

Considering each player’s previous year, these grades are easy to understand. Brown had yet another solid campaign to add to his already impressive resume. Wilson set a career and franchise-best with 35 passing touchdowns, as well as becoming the Seahawks’ career leader in touchdown passes. Carson became the first 1,000+ yard rusher for Seattle since 2014 and led the league’s best ground attack.

Baldwin may have missed most of the beginning of the year with injuries, but when he returned he was just as effective as ever. As for Lockett, if being the 14th-best receiver per PFF is still good for 965 yards and 10 touchdowns, it’s safe to assume the Seahawks are more than fine with it.

It bodes well for the Seahawks if three of their five best offensive players are all ranked top 10 at their positions, with two quality receivers not far behind them.
