Things couldn’t be going any better for the Raiders’ new workhorse running back, Josh Jacobs. He is the league’s fourth-leading rusher through two weeks, and he is second in the NFL in rushing touchdowns despite limited opportunities.
Folks are taking notice of Jacobs’ elite play and the praising the former Alabama running back. According to Pro Football Focus, no running back in the league has a higher grade than Jacobs. Take a look at what the site had to say about Jacobs so far in his career:
(Jacobs) is averaging 5.3 yards per carry through two games, with a whopping 4.2 of those yards coming after contact. He leads all running backs with a PFF overall grade of 89.8 and has proven tough to bring down, forcing nine missed tackles on 35 carries and another three on his lone reception of the year so far.
If Jacobs can continue to play at this level, it’s seemingly a lock that he will win the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year award. Better yet, his play should only help the Raiders stay competitive and win games. Oakland couldn’t be happier with the No. 24 pick from the 2019 draft.
