Pro Football Focus says Odell Beckham Jr. is on Hall of Fame pace

It seems a foregone conclusion recently retired left tackle Joe Thomas will one day grace the hallowed halls of Canton, but will any current Cleveland Browns players be worthy of joining Thomas in the Pro Football Hall of Fame someday?

Pro Football Focus asked that question, and they believe newly acquired wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has a shot. Beckham was the only Browns player deemed “on pace” for induction into the Hall of Fame.

Here’s what PFF had to say:

Beckham has only spent five years in the NFL, but in those seasons he has yet to record a receiving grade lower than 85.0 (excluding his 2017 season shortened by injury). He is dynamic with the ball in his hands and a threat to take any pass to the house. His 82 missed tackles forced as a receiver trail only Golden Tate and teammate Jarvis Landry since 2014. With what appears to be a pretty clear upgrade from Eli Manning to Mayfield, things are only pointing up for OBJ as his career progresses.

Of course, much of the young core of talent with the Browns doesn’t have enough of a track record yet to be on pace for anything everlasting. Myles Garrett, Baker Mayfield Denzel Ward are all still at the start of their careers. Perhaps Jarvis Landry or Joel Bitonio can climb up the conversation ladder with a few more Pro Bowl seasons, too.

But for right now in their careers, it’s Beckham who stands out as the Browns player with the best chance to someday earn a gold jacket.
