PFF: D.J. Moore led all wide receivers in total yards after contact as a rookie

The more we learn about D.J. Moore’s rookie season, the more promising his future in the NFL looks. Carolina’s first-round pick did not see the field much in the first half of the season, but he really caught on in the second and wound up leading his position in a few different advanced stats.

Moore led all receivers by averaging 7.9 yards after catch per reception, according to Next Gen Stats. Not only that, but according to Pro Football Focus, Moore also led all 2018 wide receivers with 273 yards after contact, even more than renowned YAC master Golden Tate. Here’s the top five.

Moore’s ability to not only avoid tackles but to slip off of contact are going to make him a significant YAC threat. It will be very interesting to see how offensive coordinator Norv Turner’s passing attack evolves and involves Moore as he develops as a receiver in year two.
