PFF believes the Raiders still have the worst pass rush in the NFL

Over the offseason, the Raiders made it a point to address their pass rush. But did they do enough to improve the unit that had just 13 sacks in 2018? Pro Football Focus isn’t exactly confident.

In a recent article by Michael Renner of Pro Football Focus, he ranked every team’s pass rush entering the 2019 season. Unfortunately, he is not a fan of the Raiders’ young group of rushers, ranking them dead last in the NFL. Take a look at Renner’s thoughts on the unit:

Are we surprised? They had the worst pass-rush we’ve ever graded last season, and all they added was the 35th and 72nd ranked players on our draft board to it.

The site is referring to Clelin Ferell (35th) and Maxx Crosby (72nd), who the team selected during the 2019 NFL draft. Pro Football Focus wasn’t high on Arden Key entering the league either, and after a sub-par rookie season, their opinion likely hasn’t changed.

Ultimately, how the young rushers develop, especially Ferrell and Maurice Hurst, will decide their season. They just don’t have many proven rushers on the team right now, hence their ranking on this list. However, expect Oakland to finish much higher on this list by this time next offseason.
