PFF: Alex Tanney, Kyle Lauletta among highest-graded Giants vs. Jets

Two New York Giants quarterbacks were the highest rated players for Big Blue in their preseason victory over the New York Jets last week, but it’s not who you think it is.

Alex Tanney and Kyle Lauletta, who both might find themselves on the outside of the fence looking in come September, were solid in the Giants’ 31-22 victory last Thursday to open the 2019 NFL Preseason for both clubs.

Tanney was 14-for-19 for 190 yards and a touchdown with no picks for a 122.7 rating. Lauletta went 9-for-12 thought the air for 116 yards and a touchdown, also with no picks. His rating was 132.6.

Pro Football Focus rated Tanney 82.9 and gave Lauletta a rating of 85.1. Tanney took 34 of the Giants’ offensive snaps (55%) and Lauletta, who relieved him, took just 17 (27%).

Other highly-rated Giants were Evan Brown (76.9), who played 51 snaps at center (82%) and wide receivers Reggie White Jr. (75.3) and T.J. Jones (75.3).

Jones caught all six of his targets for 72 yards including a 31-yard touchdown from Lauletta. White laugh all four of his targets for 60 yards with a long of 22.

Rookie quarterback Daniel Jones led all Giants players with a 91.3 grade for his performance, but he played just eight snaps, failing to qualify for the 15-snap minimum.
