PFF: Age “not an issue” for free agent Cameron Wake

Pro Football Focus recently recognized Cameron Wake for being one of the top-5 edge defenders in the AFC East last season, but they’ve taken their support of the 37-year old veteran to new lengths.

Analyst Daniel Rymer offered praise for Wake’s 2018 season, despite low sack numbers, and suggested that he would be “best suited for a team that is trying to win it all in 2019 – a team that needs immediate impact”.

That doesn’t sound like the Dolphins, but Wake has said he would like to finish his career in Miami if he’s given the chance.

The analytic company credited Wake with 54 total pressures in 14 games, equal to the same amount of pressures per game as he produced in 2017 (62 in 16 games). The group’s numbers also credited Wake with his best season against the run since 2012.

Should the Dolphins opt to go a different direction and let Wake finish his career elsewhere, Rymer suggests the Los Angeles Rams would be well served to pursue Wake in an effort to address their edge pass rush.

And while it would be sweet to see Cameron get himself a ring in 2019, it would be pretty bitter to see him do so in any colors other than aqua and orange.
