Virgil van Dijk is set to win the PFA Player of the Year award for 2019.
The Liverpool defender has enjoyed an excellent campaign with the Reds battling it out with Manchester City for the Premier League title.
Van Dijk and City star Raheem Sterling appeared to be the frontrunners for the award but reports this week suggested the Liverpool stalwart had taken the award.
Van Dijk joined Liverpool in a £75m deal in January 2018 and has played a pivotal role in their title charge.
Liverpool have lost just one game this season with the Dutchman at the back, and have conceded the least amount of goals in the league - 20.
It means a second win on the spin for the Reds after Mohamed Salah claimed the prize last season.
Van Dijk is also one of four Liverpool players in the PFA Team of the Year.
Liverpool full-backs Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson also made the all-star team, along with Sadio Mane.
As many as six Manchester City players are included in Ederson, Aymeric Laporte, Fernandinho, Bernardo Silva, Sergio Aguero and Sterling.
Paul Pogba is the only player included that does not ply his trade with either of the top two.
Sterling, who is set to finish second to Van Dijk, is expected to win the PFA Young Player of the Year award.
His City teammate Bernardo Silva is also in contention as is Liverpool full-back Alexander-Arnold.
West Ham midfielder Declan Rice, Bournemouth winger David Brooks and Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford make up the list.
