Peyton Manning to star in 30-episode show about NFL history

Former Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning is set to star in a 30-episode show on ESPN highlighting the NFL’s 100 years of history, according to Albert Breer of The MMQB.

The show, which will air on ESPN, will following Manning “as he visits some of the most important people and special places in NFL history,” according to Sean Keeley of Awful Announcing.

The show will be called “Peyton’s Places” and it will likely launch sometime this offseason and run up until the start of the NFL season.

This is the second time that Manning has worked with ESPN since his retirement from football. Last year, Manning hosted a show called “Details,” spotlighting quarterback play in the league.

After Jason Witten left the network to return to the NFL, ESPN again approached Manning about serving as a commentator for “Monday Night Football.” Manning is expected to turn down that offer but he clearly has a good working relationship with the network.

It seems like only a matter of time before Manning will eventually give in and join the MNF broadcast booth (or another network’s primetime crew). Perhaps the two-time Super Bowl champ will become a commentator after his brother, Eli, retires from the NFL.
