Indianapolis Colts legendary quarterback Peyton Manning has been named a semifinalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2021. He is among three former Colts players to make it this far into the selection process.
The Pro Football Hall of Fame announced the 25 Modern-Era semifinalists for the 2021 class. Manning, along with wide receiver Reggie Wayne (2001-2014) and linebacker Cornelius Bennett (1999-2000), are the former Colts to make the list.
This doesn’t come as much of a surprise for Manning or Wayne. Manning is a lock to be a first-ballot Hall of Famer while Wayne will be looking to make it during his second year on the ballot. He made it to the finalist stage in 2020.
It should also be noted that former Colts running back Edgerrin James will officially be enshrined into the Hall of Fame as well. He finally made it as a part of the 2020 class but due to COVID-19, the ceremony has been postponed to 2021.
So the Colts could have as many as four former players making the Hall of Fame in 2021 with two of them (James and Manning) guaranteed to be in.
The 25 semifinalists will be trimmed to 15 finalists and then the inductees will be announced in the week leading up to Super Bowl LV.
