Pets in the City is coming back to Smithfield and it's the purrfect family day out

Pets in the City is coming back to Dublin next weekend and you'll be feeling ruff if you miss it.

The sixth annual event organised by Dublin City Council and the DSPCA takes place in Smithfield Square on Sunday, 19 May.

It promises to be the purrfect summer day out for families and their four-legged friends.

17 dog friendly cafes, pubs, restaurants and hotels in Dublin where you can relax with your pooch

There'll be lots of activities and live entertainment for animal lovers at this free event such as Dog Agility Workshops and the Scruffs Dog Show.

But it's not just about dogs and cats - the Wooly Ward animal farm will give visitors the chance to interact with and learn about lots of different animals.

A range of stalls will also offer great deals on pet accessories, grooming products, toys and novelty items.

A DSPCA adoption parade will also take place, highlighting the wonderful animals available for rescue.

And for the first time, Dublin’s largest Veterinary practice Village Vets will be on hand to offer advice and answer any of your pet-related questions.

Lord Mayor of Dublin, Nial Ring, said: “This event is the perfect opportunity for the entire family, and of course our pets included, to enjoy a day out in the centre of Dublin City.

"Apart from learning to better care for your own family pet, visitors can meet with animals that aren’t often found in the heart of Dublin city.”
