Petrol station closed and person taken to hospital after early morning crash

One woman was taken to hospital after a two-car accident near a petrol station.

The Texaco garage on Canal Road in Cwmbach, near Aberdare, was closed as emergency services dealt with the crash on Monday morning.

The accident happened just before 6.30am.

Two cars, a Ford Ka and Nissan Navara, were involved and one ended up on its roof.

A spokesman for the Welsh Ambulance Service said they sent three rapid response vehicles and one ambulance to the scene.

He added that one patient had been taken to the Prince Charles Hospital in Merthyr Tydfil.

A spokeswoman for South Wales Fire and Rescue said that crews from Aberdare and Merthyr had been sent to help police and ambulance.

An eye witness said that garage was closed while they waited for the vehicles to be recovered from the scene.
