'Petrol bomb' attack at Greenock home leads to police probe

Cops have launched a probe after a early morning 'petrol bomb' attack at a house in Greenock today.

Emergency services raced to a property on MacGillivary Avenue around 5am on Sunday to reports of a deliberate fire at the home.

Luckily no-one was injured in the terrifying incident and no extensive damage was caused to the house.

Police have now launched a probe into the deliberate fire attack and are urging anyone with information to get in touch as enquiries remain ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5.05am on Sunday, 15 August, we received a report of a wilful fireraising at a property in MacGillivary Avenue in Greenock.

“Emergency services attended, no one was injured and no damage was caused to the property.

“Enquiries into the incident remain ongoing. Anyone who may have seen anything or who may have any information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident number 0968 of 15 August."
