Petr Yan calls out ‘California grown man’ Urijah Faber for a fight

Urijah Faber’s successful comeback has brought out a long list of potential suitors.

Enter top-ranked bantamweight contender Petr Yan who called out the recently un-retired Faber for a fight on Twitter.

And with the former WEC featherweight champion calling potential opponents himself, Yan is feeling left out. They don’t call him “No Mercy” for nothing, as he demonstrated on Twitter:

Yan (13-1 MMA, 5-0 UFC) made a quick rise through the bantamweight ranks, most recently defeating Jimmie Rivera via unanimous decision at UFC 238. He owns a win over Team Alpha Male’s Teruto Ishihara, who Yan referenced in his tweet to Faber. There were brief talks of Yan possibly competing against Aljamain Sterling in an interim bantamweight title fight, but it appears that the UFC is going a different direction.

Sterling is now rumored to be taking on Frankie Edgar at UFC 244 on Nov. 2. Edgar recently made the move down to bantamweight, following his loss to Max Holloway at UFC 240.

And where does that leave Yan? It appears he’d like a shot against the “California Kid” who surprised many in his return, when he knocked out Ricky Simon in the first round at UFC on ESPN+ 13.

Yan recently underwent elbow surgery following his win over Rivera in June, and is already plotting for his next fight.
