It has been quite the start to life in ice hockey for Chelsea's technical and performance advisor Petr Cech.
Last year, the former Chelsea and Arsenal goalkeeper made the move to play ice hockey for Surrey side Guildford Phoenix, with Cech speaking of his delight at being able to play a game he loved to watch and play as a child.
Cech has impressed since swapping football gloves for ice hockey pads too, including helping Guildford to an overtime success against Swindon Wildcats on his debut back in October, when he was named man of the match.
Guildford currently sit top of the National Ice Hockey League 2 South West division, and are unbeaten so far this season.
And Cech has now been nominated for the player of the month award in the division, after helping his side to some crucial victories in January.
Cech starred in a 3-2 win against second-placed Swindon Wildcats, with a 92.31 save percentage as Guildford claimed a narrow win, while in a recent 7-1 win against Basingstoke Buffalo, the Czech netminder had a 96.43 save percentage as his side ran out comfortable winners.
In total, he has now played five games for Guildford and conceded just nine goals from 129 shots faced, giving him a save percentage of 93.02%.
Cech is up against Mason Lipsey from the Swindon Wildcats and James Pentecost from the Haringey Huskies for the award.
