Petr Cech has previously explained why Chelsea do not need to sign AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma in the summer.
Paolo Maldini, Milan's technical director, confirmed earlier this week that Donnarumma will leave the San Siro when his contract expires at the end of June.
Maldini said on AC Milan's Twitch channel : “He was a protagonist, a leader and often a captain.
"A professional must also be ready to change his shirt. It is increasingly difficult to start a career in one place and finish it there.
"We must thank those who gave so much for Milan and Gigio did it, without ever disrespecting the club. Our paths divide here and I can only wish him the best."
The Blues have been linked with a move for Donnarumma despite bringing Edouard Mendy to the club last summer.
In his debut season at Stamford Bridge, Mendy has caught the eye - keeping the second most clean sheets in the Premier League throughout the 2020/21 campaign.
The former Rennes shot-stopper was brought in to help Chelsea's situation with Kepa Arrizabalaga showing he is prone to a mistake in between the posts.
Cech, a former Chelsea goalkeeper himself, played a key role in bringing Mendy to the west London club last summer and he may have already explained the reason why the Blues do not need to pursue a deal for Donnarumma in the coming months.
"With Edouard Mendy behind, he’s been absolutely outstanding so far, so altogether it came to the point where the team is defending well and don’t give away many chances," Cech said to BT Sport earlier this year.
“It’s his first campaign in the Champions League, but he’s at a good age for a goalkeeper and the way he is, his personality, he’s very calm and he wants to be better every day.
"He works every day, it’s a key for him and I think the team around him, Willy Caballero, Kepa, they help him as well - they push him, try to make sure he’s always ready and on his toes.
"I think so far it’s been a great campaign from him."
