Petr Cech announces bizarre career change with Arsenal keeper set to retire

Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has announced his plans to make the move into music ahead of his retirement from football.

The 36-year-old, who joined the Gunners in 2015, has confirmed that he will hang up his gloves when the current campaign comes to a close.

And the former Czech international, who is also a part-time drummer, has revealed he intends to release a charity single alongside Queen member Roger Taylor.

The pair's song, titled 'That's Football', will be available to download next week and will raise funds for the Willow Foundation - a UK-based organisation founded by former Arsenal goalkeeper Bob Wilson which provides special days for seriously ill young adults.

"Watch out Ed Sheeran , Stormzy, & others, there's a new artist in town," Cech wrote on Twitter .

"To mark my retirement, the legendary Roger Taylor and myself thought it would be fun to do a song to raise money for the wonderful Willow Foundation."

Taylor, 69, released some of the most iconic songs in rock history - including Bohemian Rhapsody, We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions - alongside Queen bandmates Freddie Mercury, Brian May and John Deacon.

Cech is also known to be a keen drummer in his spare time and has released several videos covering famous songs on his personal Youtube channel .

The experienced stopper is in his 15th season in England's top division and won four league titles during his time at Arsenal's London rivals Chelsea .

He also helped the West London side to four FA Cups and wins in both the Champions League and Europa League before trading Stamford Bridge for the Emirates Stadium.

Despite featuring largely as a back-up to Bernd Leno this season, Cech played all 90 minutes of Arsenal's 3-1 win over Valencia in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final on Thursday night.

A late goal from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and a brace from Alexandre Lacazette helped the Gunners come from behind to take a two-goal cushion into next week's reverse fixture at the Mestalla.
