An airport close to one of Donald Trump's two golf courses in Scotland should be renamed after Joe Biden, a public petition has demanded.
Prestwick is just 18 miles along the coast from the Trump Turnberry resort and has been used several times in the past by the departing US president.
Speculation has mounted in recent weeks that Trump could fly to the airpor t from the States to spend time at his five-star hotel in Ayrshire as a way of escaping Biden's inauguration, which takes place on Wednesday.
The Donald was comprehensively defeated in the US presidential election in November last year but has gracelessly refused to accept he lost.
Now an online petition has called for Glasgow Prestwick Airport to be renamed Joe Biden International as a way of reminding Trump of who it was that triumphed at the poll - with more than 1,000 people having so far signed up.
Earlier this month, the US president was warned by Nicola Sturgeon against plotting an escape from the White House to play golf in Scotland.
The First Minister said lockdown travel restrictions apply to Trump as much as anyone else, adding that a golf trip is not an "essential purpose".
Sturgeon, at her first coronavirus briefing of the year, was asked if she knew whether Trump was planning to visit one of his golf resorts.
"I hope and expect the travel plan he immediately has is to exit the White house - beyond that, I don't know," Sturgeon said.
"We are not allowing people to come into Scotland without an essential purpose right now, and that would apply to him just as it applies to anybody else.
"Coming to play golf is not what I consider to be an essential purpose."
Trump bought the renowned Turnberry Hotel and golf course in 2014, two years before his shock election.
Despite spending millions on a full renovation of the resort, Scotland's golf authorities have turned their back on Turnberry.
The organisers of the prestigious Open tournament announced they would not allow the South Ayrshire coast to host the event as long as Trump remained its owner.
Brewer James Watt, owner of the Ellon-based Brewdog chain, started the Biden airport petition.
He said: "Donald Trump always flies into Glasgow Prestwick Airport. We believe this airport should be renamed 'Joe Biden International".
