Petition launched to get Piers Morgan sacked from Good Morning Britain and he's fuming

Piers Morgan has hit back at his critics after learning that a petition has been launched to get him off Good Morning Britain.

The petition on Change.org describes Piers as "one of our country’s most heinous public figures," and, at the time of writing, had received over 59,000 supporters.

Since lockdown began Piers has divided viewers over his heated interviews with MPs and furious outbursts against the Government and their reluctance to put people up for interview on GMB, despite the fact they appear on other shows like BBC Breakfast.

He has been the subjected of hundreds of Ofcom complaints, most recently for his "humiliation" of MP Andrew Bridgen, who himself predicted that Piers' days on GMB could be numbered.

But Piers has responded to the petition in defiant mood with a angry tweet which read: "Memo to trolls: the more you try to silence me with foul-mouthed abuse, death threats & petitions for me to be fired, the louder & harder I will challenge the Govt over its handling of this crisis. Lives depend on it."

Responding to Piers' post, one fan tweeted: "Piers, you are a Legend!! To some perhaps Marmite.

!I am a London Bus driver and we all truly believe without you in our corner we could lose more friends and Colleagues. Keep doing what you are doing. We Salute you."

In agreement, another reacted: "Keep going Piers, as only you can. This national shambles has cost so many lives, if you offend people, shame on them."
