Forget birthday parties – Petersham Nurseries Covent Garden will be celebrating its first anniversary with an entire festival.
The West End outpost of the acclaimed Richmond restaurant is marking one year in its Floral Street home by putting on a four-day festival in its courtyard and surrounding complex of foodie hotspots.
From May 24-27 – the spring Bank Holiday – the Floral Court festival will welcome the beginning of summer with live music, workshops and al fresco drinking and dining.
La Goccia, Petersham Nurseries’ Italian cicchetti spot, will be giving away free cocktails to the first 100 festival-goers on Friday evening, and will host a Late Hour from 9-10pm every night, with all drinks half price, happy hour-style.
Musical entertainment will range from DJ sets to pop up performances from Kings Head Opera and the City of London Sinfonia, while the Petersham Platform will host discussions on social and environmental issues.
Workshops running throughout the weekend will include pasta-making masterclasses, wine tastings, floristry sessions, a facial oil blending class with Neal’s Yard Remedies and a lululemon-hosted yoga class inside the Petersham restaurant.
The courtyard will be the focal point of the festival: it will host a Prosecco and oyster cart all weekend, an outdoor afternoon tea and, on the Monday, the space will turn into a fully fledged food market populated by Petersham Nurseries’ favourite suppliers.
