Peterborough United striker Siriki Demebele attempting to force move amid Nottingham Forest links

Peterborough United's latest striking talent, Siriki Dembele, has handed in an official transfer request.

The 24-year-old was linked with Nottingham Forest last month to go with reported interest from Rangers, Celtic, Newcastle United, Derby County and Sheffield Wednesday.

Dembele, who can play as a winger or central striker, is now looking to move this month and has been valued at £2m, although Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony claims he will cost far more.

MacAnthony criticised the actions of the player’s agent when it came the transfer request.

“I woke up to the the transfer request from Siriki today. We received it over the weekend and we weren’t expecting it," he said.

“His agent will be behind this. It’s what they do, but I have no idea why players go along with it.

“Every player in League One is for sale, but only at the right price. Siriki won’t be going anywhere unless we receive an acceptable offer.

“It is what it is. We need to just get on with things and the player just needs to get on with playing.”

Dembele, who has scored 19 goals in 77 games for Peterborough, was signed for around £200,000 in 2018 from Grimsby Town.
